I also spent a lot of time indoors today—but don’t blame me, blame the rainy weather! I did eventually make my way downstairs for a swim and a visit to my building’s onsen.
An onsen is traditionally a Japanese hot spring. There are quite a few in Chiang Mai, although here, the pools are often filled with mineral water from deep underground geothermal springs. You shower first and then enter the water naked.
Tomorrow, I’m off to Chiang Dao, a mountainous region north of Chiang Mai known for its waterfalls, hot springs, and abundance of nature. I already know I’m going to regret spending only one night there, but I also know I’ll be back in Chiang Mai soon. 🙂
